Research Overview

Current Research

My research interest includes understanding the structure-morphology-property relationship of mesogen-based materials in different length scale and the microscopic control of the hierarchical superstructures. To precisely control the microscopic molecular functions as well as macroscopic materials properties, I’ve been framing up a strategy for the synthesis of the programmed mesogenic molecules which exhibit novel properties. By controlling the orientational and positional orders of the mesogenic molecules, I’ve been doing research on maximizing the functionalities in a specific direction.

Past Research

Before joining the Osuji group, I acquired my Ph.D. degree in Polymer Science at Jeonbuk National University in Korea under supervision of Professor Kwang-Un Jeong. My Ph.D. dissertation presents a strategy to manipulate and facilitate the thermal conducting properties of polymeric materials by adjusting crystallinity and molecular orientation of mesophases.
