Rheology

The lab maintains two rheometers for studies of rheology and dynamics of complex fluids and polymers.

Image of MCR301 rheometer

Stress controlled: Aton-Paar MCR301, mounted to permit optical investigation of samples under flow using a CCD camera/fiber light source.

ARES G2 Rheometer

Strain controlled: ARES G2 with a Force Rebalancing Transducer. Geometries include fluid bath temperature controlled Couette, and peltier controlled plate geometries. Equipped also for interfacial rheology, and extensile test measurements. Basic dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA, in compression) is also possible.
